The Sabri Lamouchi era begins at Nottingham Forest this weekend, when his Forest side take on last season's play-off semi finalistsWest Brom at the City Ground in the late match on Saturday afternoon.

One selection question Lamouchi needs to answer is whether to give a debut to striker Rafa Mir, who moved to the City Ground on a season long loan from Wolves earlier this week.

So will Lamouchi give Mir a start in this weekend's opener?

Jacob Potter

"He’s certainly in with a chance of starting.

"It all depends on what formation Lamouchi lines up with on the day, as I think Lewis Grabban will be his first choice option in attack.

"But Mir won’t have been signed to occupy a position on the substitutes bench, that’s for sure.

"So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start alongside Grabban against a West Brom side that will be hoping to justify their pre-season promotion credentials.

"If he does start, then I can see him causing the Baggies a number of problems tonight, and it could see Forest start this season with an all-important win at the City Ground.

"Mir could start out wide though as well, which makes him a versatile option to have in the Forest squad in their league campaign this year."

Alfie Burns

“I think that Lamouchi will be in two minds, and it’ll be interesting to see if Mir gets the nod.

“He’s hardly been prolific since signing for Wolves, and his loan spell didn’t see him break into double figures in terms of goals.

“That would sway me to believe he’s an alternative option to Lamouchi, but it is hard to gauge what way the new boss will go.

“If you pushed me for an answer, I’d say he will be on the bench this weekend.”

"I've got a feeling he might do.

"You feel Forest will want to start the season strongly, and having someone with Mir's attacking instinct and top-flight pedigree would help to them to do that, just as you expect it to do throughout the course of the campaign.

"With Craig Dawson now having been sold to Watford and Ahmed Hegazi out injured, it could well be a new and unfamiliar central defensive pairing that the Baggies are forced to name on Saturday night, and that is something that Lamouchi could look to exploit with the use of someone with the sort of trickery and creativity that Mir can provide.

"You imagine it will be a tight game between two teams harbouring hopes of promotion this season, and it could be a decision such as this that could decide who takes their first three points of the season at The City Ground."
