Nottingham Forest fell to a disappointing home defeat to high-flying Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, with the visiting Welsh side running out 2-0 winners at The City Ground.

Victory ensured the Bluebirds cemented their position in the top-two behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst defeat saw Forest fall to ninth.

The Reds remain just five points away from the top-six however, and manager Mark Warburton will be confident his side will continue to challenge for a spot in the end of season shoot-out over the course of the campaign.

Although Forest were defeated, positives can certainly be drawn from the game, with the performance and return of young Matty Cash a real plus point from the encounter.

The 20-year-old has largely been resigned to reserve team football this year having returned from an injury picked up during pre-season, but having played well in the second team, the midfielder earned his chance at a first-team return.

Cash did not disappoint, and fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate the player…
