Speaking to Leeds United’s official website, club legend Eddie Gray has admitted he believes Garry Monk’s side are set to secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship’s Play-Offs this season.

The Whites are currently fourth in the Championship table, and after a convincing 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in their last league outing, are now eight-points clear of seventh-placed Fulham.

Should Monk’s side secure a place in the end of season Play-Offs, it will be the first time Leeds have managed a top-six finish in the second-tier since 2006.

Leeds have not given up hope of securing an automatic promotion place, as they trail Brighton by just eight-points, following their triumph over Chris Hughton’s side.

Reflecting on Leeds’ current league position, Gray admitted he was confident his former side would secure their place in the Play-Offs and also talked up their top-two ambitions, he said: “It’s very exciting, if you look at the position we have put ourselves in, we have got an opportunity to finish in the top-six, which I think we will, but we’re still hunting down the top-two.

“It will be difficult (to catch the top-two), but the form the team is in, the way they are playing, the resilience they show when they get out there, especially against a top Brighton side, we more than match them.”

Monk’s side were not in league action last weekend due to an international break, but will regroup ahead of this weekend’s clash with Play-Off rivals Reading.

Jaap Stam’s side are currently fifth in the Championship, and are likely to hand Leeds another test of their promotion credentials.
