Having won five on the bounce recently, Leeds United currently find themselves with a gap emerging between them and third place.
Leeds came into this season looking to achieve promotion at Marcelo Bielsa’s second attempt after falling just short last season. Last campaign saw Leeds pipped by Sheffield United into second place, having led the way for the majority of the season and throwing it away in the last month of the season.
This season has seen more of the same, with the Whites and West Brom setting the pace from the outset as the Baggies lead the way with just one defeat after 19 games played, which they lost to Leeds.
However, having experienced the heartbreak of being overtaken in the Championship promotion race last campaign despite gunning for the title, there will be no surprise to think that Leeds will be looking over their shoulders for the rest of this season, to ensure they keep in front.
The Whites are currently in second and a comfortable five points clear of third-placed Fulham after a five-game winning run, but the question still arises of whether Leeds would be content with staying in second place for the season or whether they should be looking to pip West Brom to the title.
With the thought being put to Leeds fans on Twitter, we take a look at how they have responded with regard to their promotion prospects…
Not bothered about #WBA they can stay there for all I care.

Don’t think the battle is with anyone else but ourselves and our own mentality mate Forrest, Preston wba will mean nothing if we deliver what we’re capable of all season

Was just thinking this. Use West Brom to keep the pressure off us in 2nd. Keep widening that 2nd-3rd gap. Hopefully.

This👏 all about that gap between 2nd & 3rd.
While a draw would have been idea, if WBA keep beating teams in play off positions that may just be our biggest assist to "boing boing" all the way to the PL.

It’s not them I worry about, it’s us I worry about lol!

Totally agree. If West Brom beat Fulham and Forest etc then I'll be happy. The gap to 3rd is most important. Leeds need to keep averaging 2 points plus per game and they will come top 2

Personally at this stage of the season I’m not too fussed about other results. We just need to concentrate on our selves

Finish ahead of WBA and we are up IMO
