Left-back Lewis Page made his injury comeback in an under-23s game against Crystal Palace this afternoon, however his return to fitness lasted only 12 minutes
With the score tied at 0-0, he was taken off just 12 minutes into the game and replaced by Charles Clayden, as the latest sign that Page is still recovering from injury and isn’t yet ready to play.
The defender last appeared in a competitive first-team game for the Addicks back in October 2018, when he was forced off in a 5-3 defeat away at Scunthorpe United during a League One clash between the pair.
The full-back was forced off just five minutes into that tie, and since then has struggled to step back out onto the pitch, after suffering a devastating setback in a friendly against Gillingham last summer.
Test your knowledge of Charlton Athletic with this quiz – Can you get 12 out of 12?
Page signed for Charlton in January 2017 from West Ham United, but he has made just the 27 appearances across the last three years as injuries have taken their toll on the defender.
With his contract expiring in the summer, he will be fearing for his place at The Valley as he has been forced to continuously watch on from the sidelines.
With Charlton fans now having lost patience with the 23-year-old, we take a look at the reaction from Charlton fans to Page’s substitution…
How predictable… Made of glass

Poor bloke, setback after setback after setback. Can only imagine what is going through his mind right now, frustrating being so close and then having another setback

Solid 12 minutes in the bank for fitness.

Got to feel for him. How much more effort and hard work has the lad got to do to get back to fitness – more than anything for himself! Poor lad.
