The Fratton Park faithful can be both satisfied and disappointed with their start to the 2016/17 EFL League Two campaign.

Paul Cook's men sit 5th in the table after 15 games, winning 7 times, drawing 3 times, and losing 5 times, however for some Pompey fans, play-offs isn't good enough.

With the signings of Carl Baker, Milan Lalković and Danny Rose to name a few, Portsmouth were undoubtedly dubbed the outright favourites to win the League Two title this year, or failing that, automatic promotion at the very least.

But this is football, and some of these elite signings haven't been pulling their weight whatsoever, and many of the Blue Army will be happy to get rid of some of those players in January.

Pompey need to consider letting some go in order to achieve the ultimate goal this term, and here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE players that Paul Cook should look to AXE in January...

Kyle Bennett

Bennett has been hit and miss with Pompey fans ever since his arrival from Doncaster Rovers in 2015.

He is agile on the ball, however is often criticised for his weakness and movement off it, and many of the Fratton faithful much prefer Milan Lalkovic on the left wing.

The 26-year old has made 53 appearances for the Cook's men, netting 7 times, but if the boss wants to erase any inconsistency in order to go up this year, it may be time for Bennett to depart...

Kal Naismith

The 24-year old arrived at Fratton Park in good stead, joining from Accrington Stanley in 2015.

The former Rangers man hasn't really endured the greatest of spells at Fratton Park however, netting 3 times in 29 appearances for the Blues, and is heavily down the pecking order of wingers, behind Carl Baker, Milan Lalkovic, and Bennett.

Naismith definitely has a lot of potential, however a move away from Pompey would benefit his playing career more than being fourth choice at Fratton Park.

Michael Smith

Rounding off the list is Michael Smith, who joined Paul Cook's men permanently following an impressive loan spell at the club last term from Swindon Town, where he netted 4 times in 16 games.

However this year, behind young starlet Conor Chaplin as well as Curtis Main, the 25-year old hasn't really had a look in this campaign.

He scored a hat-trick in the Checkatrade Trophy in a 4-3 defeat to Yeovil Town, but apart from that, he has failed to score a single goal in 6 appearances in the league.

Pompey fans have been very disappointed with his start to the season, and it may be time for Cook to get rid of him in January.
