For a new manager just starting out, former Manchester United hero Jaap Stam has really settled into life at Championship outfit Reading.

The legendary defender has really taken to management and in turn has seriously improved the form of Championship outfit Reading, who are flying high in the division.

The Royals currently sit fourth in the division and have been flying of late, comfortably dispatching the likes of Nottingham Forest last weekend and Wigan this weekend.

But in between impressive results and convincing wins has been the odd wobble, especially at important times during games.

Sometimes it's come down to character and other times outright poor play on Reading's behalf.

But it's clear that within a very good backbone of players, there are certain individuals that don't quite fit with where the team are in the table.

So with that in mind, we feel there are a handful of individuals that could be shown the door at the Madejski Stadium in the near future.

Here's three Reading players who might be axed by manager Jaap Stam in the near future...

Chris Gunter

When it comes to players dividing opinion, no-one does that at Reading quite like Chris Gunter.

The Wales international is adored by some but really disliked by others.

But what is clear to see is that when he has a bad day, he really does suffer on the right-hand flank.

If Reading are going to stay in the promotion race or at least challenge come the end of the season, they will need to be mistake-free.

Does Gunter offer the most convincing option in defence?

At times, no.

Jake Cooper

You've got to feel a bit sorry for Jake Cooper, who, when given the chance has been absolutely superb for the Royals this season.

There is a real belief amongst the Reading faithful that the young centre half could be a real diamond in the rough but instead, he's been frozen out.

The fact of the matter is Cooper may leave before he is axed but he's a talented young man that should be getting more game time.

Sandro Wieser

Reading Fans

To say Sandro Wieser is redundant in this Royals team is an absolute understatement.

The former Thun man is yet to make an appearance in the first team and since coming in this summer, there has been little news on his whereabouts.

Whether the reasoning is to do with discipline, injuries, attitude or form is not clear but the axe surely can't be that far away for the Liechtenstein international.
