It has been a dismal start to the 2016/17 Championship campaign for QPR, and recent talk of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink being set to leave Loftus Road isn't helping matters by any means.

The R's sit 14th in the Championship table, after 15 games, with five wins, four draws and six defeats, and if they lose against a deteriorating Nottingham Forest side on Saturday afternoon, Hasselbaink will reportedly lose his job - with Tim Sherwood set to replace the Dutchman.

For a team that recruited so well in the summer, such as the additions of Idrissa Sylla and Jordan Cousins, the Loftus Road faithful will no doubt be disappointed with their start to the season.

They do possess real quality in their side, and really should be challenging for promotion at the other end of the table with the talent that they have.

With the January window coming up, QPR could be set for a bit of a squad reshuffle and there are a number of under-performing players who could be set for the chop.

Therefore here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE players that Hasselbaink needs to axe, in order to turn the R's and his own season around...

Conor Washington

Washington arrived at Loftus Road with high hopes after signing from Peterborough United in January 2016.

The 24-year old netted 27 times in 82 games for the Posh but has endured a dreadful spell at QPR.

Only managing to find the net once in 25 games for the R's, which came against Swindon Town in the League Cup, Washington isn't proving his worth at all.

Hasselbaink really should look to bring in another striker who is prolific at Championship level in January, and say goodbye to Washington.

Sandro

Brought to the club by Harry Redknapp, the former Tottenham midfielder’s time at Loftus Road is surely almost up.

The Brazilian has failed to impress at his time with the R’s, capped off with a loan spell at West Brom last term where he made 12 appearances, and he has also failed to make an appearance for Hasselbaink's men thus far this term.

With the likes of Ariel Borysiuk, Jordan Cousins and Karl Henry in front of the 27-year-old in the pecking order, a player of Sandro’s calibre needs to move on and salvage his career elsewhere before it is too late.

Nasser El-Khayati

The Dutchman was influential for Burton Albion in their remarkable promotion winning campaign in 2015/16 but opted to move with Hasselbaink in February to Loftus Road.

Since then, a large majority of R’s fans haven’t really warmed to the 27-year-old, who has only scored once in 20 games.

The winger is criticised for his lack of end product, and should look to move on in January, as he is simply out of his depth in the second tier.
