Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City have held talks with Ayr United striker Lawrence Shankland, according to reports from The Sun (18/02, page 61).

The 23-year old has scored 30 goals in 30 games for the Scottish Championship side this term, and has alerted interest from the Swans for quite some time.

Reports claim that Graham Potter's men have held talks with the prolific forward, whose contract runs out at Somerset Park in the summer, with Rotherham United also offering the attacker a contract.

Here, we discuss whether he'd be a good signing for Swansea...

George Harbey

"This would be an excellent signing.

"Shankland has been in phenomenal form for Ayr this season, and his confidence will be sky high after such an impressive campaign thus far.

"Swansea need another goalscorer in their squad to support the magnificent Oli McBurnie."

Louie Chandler

"It has got to be worth a go.

"30 goals in 29 appearances is outstanding at any level and although there is far from any guarantee he will make the jump to the Championship, I say go for it.

"If it comes off, it will prove very exciting for the Swans."

Sam Rourke

"It's surely worth a punt.

"He's been in sensational form and we've seen it before where players in great goalscoring form in the lower leagues, go on and translate that great form in the higher tiers.

"Swansea must beat others to this signing, as it is likely it won't be a pricey deal either."
