The defeat to Bristol City was not he only disappointment for Birmingham City manager Garry Monk to have to contend with, as the extent of the injury that forced defender Michael Morrison off the pitch on 67 mins is still not known as reported in the Birmingham Mail.

Morrison has been a regular for Monk this season with the 30-year-old chipping in with two goals and one assist in his 22 appearances so far and Monk is waiting for a physio's report as to whether the player will be available for the weekend.

So how big a blow will it be if Morrison is not available for Blackburn this weekend?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

It’s so frustrating for Garry Monk.

Morrison has been a consistent performer this season for the Blues and definitely justified his manager’s trust.

Over a crucial festive period, Birmingham’s chance of the play-offs could be in doubt without the defender.

Gary Hutchinson

Massive blow, they’re struggling for numbers and he’s been excellent for them.

Garry Monk has his work cut out keeping the Blues in the position they’re in.

That was with Morrison too. Without?

It’s going to be a long Christmas.

George Harbey

It’s a big blow for Blues.

He’s been a very solid figure at the back for Birmingham this season and his absence won’t be very good at all in preparation for the Christmas period.

They’ll be hoping he returns as soon as possible.

Jay Taylor

It is a pretty big blow in all honesty.

Birmingham City have found a formula that works for them and that involved continuity in positions for certain personnel.

With Michael Morrison injured, their captain, that rock at the back erodes and makes the Blues slightly more vulnerable with a constant in their set-up out for however long.

I am confident that changing one player will not have the greatest of effects on the team’s current form.
