Former Portsmouth midfielder David Norris has admitted that he still thinks Danny Cowley's side need additional options ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Pompey finished eighth in the League One table, as they narrowly missed out on a top-six finish in the third tier standings under Cowley's management.

The former Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City boss was only appointed as Portsmouth's new manager back in March 2021, and has already added to his squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The likes of Shaun Williams, Jayden Reid, Clark Robertson and Gavin Bazunu are just some of the names to arrive at Fratton Park in recent months.

Pompey are set to take on Fleetwood Town in their season opener on Saturday 7th August, in what could potentially be a tricky test for Cowley's side in their first league game of the new season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Football League World, former Portsmouth man David Norris felt as though Cowley's side still need a handful of signings before the summer transfer window slams shut.

"I think again, it's similar to Ipswich. It was it was an overhaul. The way they've been playing the way Kenny Jackett was a lot more was a lot more direct, a lot more disciplined.

"Where we know the Cowley's like to play out from the back a lot, play through the thirds. So it's gonna need it's a totally different type of player to someone who's comfortable on the ball. You know it from back to front.

"So, they'll need a handful more for me. It looks like that they're pushing on with that and they've brought some good ones in so far and I expect probably another five."
