After a start of just one win in seven left Nottingham Forest in a position of mid-table mediocrity, fans were worried that the summer's big spending would not pay off.

17 new signings arrived in the transfer window as Aitor Karanka looked to transform the club into promotion winners.

Those new signings appear to have finally settled now and the Reds now sit just one place outside the playoffs in seventh place.

And one of the signings believes that the league's early pace-setters should be wary of them, saying that they are yet to fire on all cylinders.

Colback signed for Forest on a season-long loan in the summer after spending the second half of the previous campaign with at the City Ground.

He has been a regular for the club this campaign, starting 13 of the club's 16 matches so far and becoming an integral part of Aitor Karanka's set-up.

But is Colback right? Should the top clubs be wary of Forest?

They are finally showing some promise.

Forest have been one of the teams that have failed to live up to their pre-season expectations but they are showing some promising signs.

With the Reds taking points off the likes of promotion rivals Sheffield United and Leeds, clubs should certainly be aware of the threat that they pose this season as they chase promotion.

It’s propaganda - Nottingham Forest blow hot and cold and they are currently playing well and in some kind of form.

But a bad run is just one result, one change, one formation switch away from making them an inconsistent outfit again like they were at the start of the season.

When they are on form they are a hard team to beat - but so is everyone else in the division.

Everyone should fear everyone, Forest aren’t the most dangerous team in the league so I wouldn’t fear them compared to others.

Probably, but no more so than any other side.

At their best, Forest have been decent and there have been few signs that they can get better than that yet.

At the moment their at least six other teams who look more likely than them to go up. Their biggest strength is probably Karanka and the fact he knows how to get to the Premier League.
