Ipswich Town fans are facing up to life in League One next season, following relegation from the Championship under manager Paul Lambert, in a season that has seen the Tractor Boys win only four times in 42 matches, with only four games of the season remaining.

Ipswich owner Marcus Evans has backed Lambert to be manager at Portman Road next season in a personal letter to supporters, that was published on the club website.

So is Evans right to back Lambert?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"While this is clearly part of a long term plan, results haven't improved at all under Lambert in his six months at the club.

"The drop to League One would have given the Tractor Boys the perfect chance for a complete reset.

"Someone untarnished by this catastrophe of a season could have come in and put his own vision for the club into place, without carrying the weight of what has just happened on his shoulders."

Alfie Burns

“You can maybe see why there’s doubts over this but it's probably the right decision.

“Lambert is an experienced guy and he’s got a feel for the club this season, which should help Ipswich massively heading into League One.

“Consistency in football is so important and this looks like the right thing to do on the face of things.”

Louie Chandler

"I think so.

"Even though he took over with a large amount of the season remaining, Ipswich already looked doomed.

"Last summer cost them badly and Lambert deserves a chance to build his own side."
