Despite a decent run under Steve Bruce, it looks as though Sheffield Wednesday will come up short in the race for a play-off place this season, with the Owls in ninth place, four points off Derby County with two matches of their season remaining.

Bruce though will now be looking ahead to the summer and the recruitment he needs to turn the Owls into real promotion contenders, though perhaps his first move should be to look at what he has and move to tie down goalkeeper Keiren Westwood to a new deal.

So how important is it that Bruce ties Westwood down to a new deal?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"Hugely.

"Wednesday have some good goalkeepers in their squad but none of them are as good as Westwood and that has been shown in the second half of this season.

"He remains one of the best in the league and is a player the Owls must keep."

Alfie Burns

“It’s perhaps one of Bruce’s biggest jobs this summer.

“Having an outstanding goalkeeper is key for any side in the Championship, particularly one that wants to be challenging.

“Westwood is one of the best in the business and needs to be handed decent terms.”

Gary Hutchinson

“It would be nice to see.

“I think they need some consistency, but at the same time they need a rebuild.

“It’s important they offer the right players contracts, but are also ruthless with others.

“In this instance, a deal is a must.”
