Nottingham Forest have made a solid start to the season, currently 10th place in the Championship, with Sabri Lamouchi's side seven points adrift of early league leaders Swansea City, who Forest face at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.

One player at the City Ground though, who is desperately struggling for game-time this season is 24-year-old goalkeeper Jordan Smith, who is yet to appear this season and is competing with three other keepers for the number one jersey under Lamouchi.

With Smith way down the pecking order at the club, do you think Smith should be offloaded by Forest in the January window?

We discuss........

Chris Gallagher

"Yes, and it's a move that would suit all parties.

"Firstly, Forest with Brice Samba, Aro Muric and even Costel Pantilimon who is still at the club, it's hard to see how Smith is going to get any game time this season and even moving forward.

"So, he should be looking to move. At 24-years-old, he needs to be playing each week and whilst he would have hoped that would be at the City Ground, the reality is it won't be. As well as that, Forest know they can let the stopper go as they have enough quality in that department.

"It should be a relatively straightforward decision for the player and the club in the New Year and it will be interesting to see where Smith goes for his next move."

George Dagless

"Yes.

"The amount of goalkeepers that Nottingham Forest have at their club is frankly unbelievable.

"Normally, a squad will have three 'keepers and even then at least one of them is hardly ever going to get a look-in thanks to the nature of the job.

"Having five piled up just doesn't make any sense and I am confident that both player and club should be looking to try and solve this issue in the January window as soon as it opens for business."

Jacob Potter

"It’s only a matter of time before he leaves.

"Smith hasn’t featured for Forest in recent seasons, and I was even surprised to see him named as a substitute for one of their games in this year’s league campaign.

"He was impressive at Mansfield Town on loan last term, but I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant a regular starting spot in the Forest squad anytime soon.

"Sabri Lamouchi has better options available to him this season in Brice Samba and Arijanet Muric, so Smith won’t be anywhere near the matchday squad this campaign.

"Smith should look to move on as soon as the January transfer window opens if he wants find regular game time.

"He’s still only 24, so he’s got his best years ahead of him in between the posts."
