Jordan Hugill has been a wanted man for months on end now and it looked increasingly likely that he was all set to leave Preston North End in the summer transfer window.
Amid multi-million pound bids from sides such as Reading and Birmingham, the 24-year-old striker handed in a written transfer request at Deepdale just two days before the window shut.
This left Alex Neil with almost no time to find a replacement for the forward and he therefore rejected the request, saying he was not willing to sell his best players.
Since the transfer request, Jordan Hugill has attended club training as usual but the reaction of the other players towards the former Port Vale man is unknown.
Now it’s all down to Hugill to prove that he is 100% committed to the club by putting in his usual shift up top where he could play a big part in Preston’s season.
It would do him no good to sit out and sulk until January because if he is still looking to push for a move in the next window, then the likelihood of a club paying a big fee for a player with such an attitude is very slim.
He already has three goals to his name in all competitions but if he can commit himself to the cause from here on in then he could quickly see that tally increase.
