Southend United have been searching for a successor to Kevin Bond for the best part of a month, however the Blues have yet to name a new man to take over the managerial reins.

Things were made even worse for fans of the Shrimpers last weekend as they were humbled by fellow League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon 4-1 at Roots Hall, to leave the Essex based club currently sitting in 22nd place after 12 games played with just one win to their name this season.

One name who has been consistently linked with the managerial position is former Celtic and FC Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson, who has been out of work since leaving Swedish side Helsingborgs IF in August, after being verbally abused on social media.

However, a new development has now come to light in the form of a club statement, which has confirmed that the club are no longer in talks with the ex-Manchester United forward, leading to a flurry of responses from supporters via social media.
