Leeds United have weighed up a possible move for Brentford centre-back John Egan as they aim to fix their their defensive issues this summer, according to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Would Egan be a good fit at Leeds? Should they pursue a move for the Republic of Ireland defender?
We discuss...
Ben Barkworth
Egan would be a solid performer for Leeds in an area where they have had issues.
Pontus Jansson could still leave the club, so he would be an excellent alternative.
It's likely he'd be cheaper than Kyle Bartley as well, although they could probably bring them both in with the money they would get for Jansson.
Jay Williams
Egan is a major upgrade on Liam Cooper.
Obviously Kyle Bartley will be the first-choice in that department but realistically Leeds need at least two new centre-backs at the club so they could pursue both.
If Pontus Jansson leaves as well, the Whites will be very short in that department and Egan is a proven Championship defender who, at 25, is still relatively young.
Alfie Burns
For me, Kyle Bartley has to be Leeds’ top target this summer, but Egan is a nice alternative to consider.
The 25-year-old is at a good age and has Championship experience under his belt.
If a move for Bartley fails, Leeds could do far worse than pursuing Egan.
George Dagless
He's the sort of player Leeds need.
Experienced in the Championship and a good, committed defender, it would be a deal to be pleased about.
I'm unsure if he's better than Bartley but he is certainly an upgrade on some of the other players they've got.
Chris Gallagher
This would be a good move.
I think he's a solid player and only going to improve.
He's an upgrade on what they have and could flourish at Elland Road.
