The Leeds United board are reportedly thinking about life after Marcelo Bielsa, should the Argentine decide to walk away from Elland Road at the end of the season, with current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard a name under consideration, according to a report on Football Insider.

The former England captain has been at Ibrox since May 2018 and after finding his feet in management has got his Rangers side competing against Celtic this season, with the Gers leading the Scottish Premiership by two points.

So would Gerrard be a good choice to manage Leeds United, if Bielsa left?

We discuss........

Chris Thorpe

"Not too sure about this one, don't get me wrong he's done an impressive job at Rangers, but I believe Leeds would be a massive step up for Gerrard if they were promoted to the Premier League.

"The fact that he is even linked with the role shows that he is held in high regard by many in English football.

"I think he would be able to deal with the high expectations at Elland Road.

"But ultimately I think it could be a big risk leaving a club that guarantees success for another that is deemed a sleeping giant at present."

Josh Cole

“Although Gerrard has made an encouraging start to life as a manager with Rangers, it would be a huge risk for Leeds to appoint him if Bielsa does leave at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

“Having yet to win any major silverware at Ibrox, the jury is still out on whether the 39-year-old can restore the Teddy Bears to their former status as Scotland’s top club.

“Providing that Bielsa departs Elland Road next summer, the club may find it more beneficial to appoint Under-23s coach Carlos Corberan as his successor rather than taking a punt on Gerrard.

“Having led the Whites’ youth side to two titles last season, the Spaniard could replicate this success at senior level providing that he hits the ground running.”

George Harbey

"It's just utterly bizarre to be honest.

"Gerrard is obviously doing a really good job over at Rangers, but he hasn't set the world alight just yet during his time at Ibrox.

"To go from an experienced manager in Bielsa to an essentially rookie manager in Gerrard would be a risk.

"I'd also be worrying about Gerrard using the Leeds job as a stepping stone to get the Liverpool job in the future, too."
