Leeds United will not be bringing in another centre-back this summer with recent recruit Ben White backed to step up after Pontus Jansson left.
The decision to sell the Swedish international to Brentford was a very controversial one and it hasn’t gone down well with the fans.
Jansson was a crucial player for Marcelo Bielsa last season as the side finished third, with his performances integral to what was a good season on the whole, even if it ended in disappointment.
Therefore, supporters hoped that a proven replacement would be lined up to replace the 28-year-old but reporter Phil Hay revealed on Twitter that Bielsa is going to go with White, who joined on loan from Brighton earlier this window.
White will be his other CB. It's a gamble but you know how Bielsa rolls.

Even though the 21-year-old is highly-rated, he hasn’t played at this level before and is one of only two natural centre-backs at Elland Road, with skipper Liam Cooper the other.
So, it’s not surprising to see that this update angered Leeds fans.
Here’s some of the reaction on Twitter…
Well that’s depressing but as expected from @andrearadri

Sorry but it's just ridiculous. Jansson and White are not comparable players, even if they were equal on ability and experience which they are clearly not, Pontus is a giant next to him and the difference in aerial ability is huge

that’s worrying considering how cooper looked so inexperienced today. that lunge for the penalty was ludicrous

It is simply idiotic to go into a season with only 2 centre backs in the squad. No other team in the Championship or Premier League would even consider it ????

No CB. No promotion. This isn't rocket surgery.
