It’s been a rather stagnant season for Sheffield Wednesday, but the last couple of months have given signs that next season could be their year.

After a couple of play-off finishes under Carlos Carvalhal, Wednesday have failed to challenge the top six, and despite a late resurgence under Steve Bruce, that was the case again this term.

The energy around the club is growing and fans are optimistic about next year, despite seeing their bitter rivals promoted, taking over the city in a rather embarrassing fashion.

If the Owls are to challenge next season, they will have to make a few signings, as well as let go a couple of players.

Here, we list two players that we are really struggling to see stick around at the club going into next season, probably meaning they will leave this summer.

Do you agree, or can you think of a player we have missed that you think will certainly leave this summer? Let us know in the comments section below.

Cameron Dawson

After a good first half of the season, Cameron Dawson had to play second fiddle to the remarkable Keiren Westwood, who has been in inspired form under Bruce.

This could be the end for Dawson, who may think he is good enough to be starting every week, meaning he could force a move elsewhere, potentially to League One.

Michael Hector

Chelsea-owned Michael Hector is obviously a huge target to sign on a permanent deal for Wednesday after his terrific season where he won a few accolades.

Despite this though, bigger clubs are reportedly interested in Hector, and this could tempt both him and Chelsea into sending him elsewhere.

Impossible might be a bit far, but we can't see Hector returning.
