Birmingham City travel to leading promotion candidates Leeds United this weekend, looking for three points in the hope they can put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone, following defeat last-time out against West Brom.
Blues manager Garry Monk has received some good-news ahead of the weekend, following confirmation that defensive midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld is fit again and available for selection, as reported in the Evening Express.
So how big a boost is the return of Kieftenbeld for the Blues?
“In their new found position Monk will need all of his best players available to him without fail.
“Kieftenbeld will add some much needed still to the midfield.”
“Absolutely – It’s great news.
“The Birmingham game plan will be to cut out the Leeds threat from midfield and they need their best defensive midfielder in order to do that.
“Kieftenbeld gives them a huge chance to get a result.”
“It is, the spectre of relegation might only be small but it’s there.
“This has been an odd season for them and now they need to get over the line and put it behind them.
“He’s a decent player and will boost their chances of survival.”
