Chris Coleman's Sunderland secured a massive win on the weekend as they downed relegation rivals Burton Albion 2-0 at the Pirelli Stadium.

Goals from George Honeyman and James Vaughan sealed the key three points for the Black Cats, in a win which lifts them off the bottom of the Championship table.

Mackems fans will be hoping Coleman can continue winning to help them evade the dreaded drop to League One.

The next few years could go either way for Sunderland, but where do you think they'll be in five years time?

We discuss.....

Adam Simeoni

This could go either way.

If Coleman can keep them to this year and the financial situation at the club begins to improve, then they should be okay in the second tier.

Go down this year, and we may see a Portsmouth style capitulation on Wearside.

Chris Gallagher

A comfortable Championship side.

They’ve appointed the right man in Chris Coleman and I have no doubt he will turn them round in the long run.

However, we have to realise how tough a job he has. This year is about survival and the next two seasons will be about getting a squad he wants and removing some of the high earners.

In year four and five they should be looking at pushing up the table.

It’s going to be a tough few years for Sunderland but it needs to happen and they’ve got the right man.

George Dagless

I think they'll be in the Championship at least.

I like the Chris Coleman appointment and think he'll get enough out of the side in order for them to stay up this season.

Whether or not they're going to have the financial clout to get back into the Premier League is up for debate.

Alfie Burns

A lot depends on this season, whether they can avoid relegation from the Championship.

If they can, they have a chance to rebuild, with some extremely talented players at their disposal and a good manager.

However, if they drop into League One, it is scary to think what the future holds.
