Sunderland head into Easter weekend with manager Jack Ross knowing his side need to bounce back following defeat to Coventry City last time out, a result that leaves the Black Cats in third place in League One, two points behind second placed Barnsley, but with a game in hand on their rivals.

Ross is waiting on news over the recovery of several players as he prepares his side for Doncaster at home on Good Friday and Peterborough away on Bank Holiday Monday, with the likes of Lee Cattermole, Aiden McGeady and Chris Maguire in line for a possible return, as reported on Chronicle Live.

So with their run-in dogged by injuries, will Sunderland still win promotion?

We discuss.........

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s going to be a big ask.

“They’ve got a good squad, but they’ve gone down in numbers recently.

“That defeat against Coventry was a massive blow to them.

“They’re on the ropes and there’s three teams waiting to pounce.

“What an end to the season.”

"I still think they’ll have enough to win promotion back into the Championship.

"Sunderland have the strength in depth to challenge for an automatic promotion place this season and I still think they’ll sneak into the top two by the skin of their teeth.

"It would be a real shock if they weren’t to finish inside the automatic promotion places."

Louie Chandler

"It's too close to call.

"It remains in their hands but looking at the fixtures and you have to say Barnsley have the kinder games.

"You can never rule anything out but I think the Black Cats may struggle not to burn out."
