Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge took to Instagram today, and it’s getting fans excited about his potential return to the first-team.

Unbeaten in six in the Championship, Cardiff will be heading into tonight’s game at home to QPR with plenty of expectation.

But QPR will be no easy feat. Mark Warburton’s side have won four of their last five away matches in all competitions, and find themselves 10th in the league, three places above tonight’s opposition.

Cardiff lost their opening fixture at Wigan after Etheridge limped off the pitch mid-way through the second half, and the Welsh club went on to concede two late goals to give Wigan a 3-2 victory.

Etheridge missed seven consecutive matches for Neil Warnock’s side, before making the bench in their last two outings. Former QPR keeper Alex Smithies has been filling in for Etheridge.

He today posted a picture to his Instagram captioned ‘Game Day! Midweek Game!’, and Cardiff fans are predicting that the Filipino will be back between the sticks against QPR tonight.

Neemonjee: you should be starting 11

Saifpr: It’s go time

Jonnylew89: Back between the sticks!

Callum_llewellyn_89: Yes etheridge good to see you back

Jacobprice1927: 3 points needed. Mon’ the lads

The verdict

Etheridge showed his value to Cardiff in the Premier League last season. Although they were condemned to relegation, Etheridge was a shining light for the team. Cardiff fans will be thankful he’s back, and hoping he can help them break into the top half of the table.
