Despite an excellent start to life in League One, Sunderland manager Jack Ross will be buoyed by the fact that midfielder Aiden McGeady is looking good in training and challenging for selection.

The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been missing for the last month having sustained a calf injury but the signs are he is ready to enter the fray.

So does the return of McGeady spell good news for the Black Cats?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

If he’s committed and ready for a fight, yes.

He should be too good for League One and he should be a key player for them.

If his frame of mind is right and he focuses on the task in hand, Sunderland will be all the better for it.

He could be the difference between play offs and automatic promotion.

Jay Taylor

It is a boost that Aiden McGeady is back for Sunderland.

His trickery and nouse on the pitch will be an added bonus for Jack Ross this season.

In League One he should be tearing it up, he has the ability.

George Dagless

It's excellent news for Ross.

On form, McGeady could really tear League One up and fans will hope that he can show that.

The influx of Scottish-based players will help him given his Celtic days and so he could enjoy a good season.
