Chris Wood has insisted Leeds United’s Play-Off hopes are “definitely not over”, despite the Whites falling behind the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six in recent weeks, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Four defeats from six fixtures in April has led to Garry Monk’s side slipping out of the Play-Off positions for the first time since November, leaving Leeds’ season in potential ruin.

Monk’s side have two fixtures remaining this season, and with sixth-placed Fulham holding a three-point lead over Leeds, the club’s Play-Off destiny is out of their hands.

However, Wood, 25, has insisted he is confident his side can still reach the top-six, he said: “It’s definitely not over, nobody knows what’s going to happen going into this weekend’s game (against Norwich).

“If we win it and other clubs drop points, it makes the last weekend a massive one. I’ve got total confidence that we’ll get the right results. Then we’ll see if luck plays its part.”

Wood has been instrumental in Leeds fighting at the top end of the table, scoring 28 goals across all competitions, including 25 in the Championship, making him the division’s top goalscorer.

The New Zealand international has scored just once in his last six appearances, coinciding with Leeds’ Play-Off hopes fading.

Wood will be looking to add to his goal tally and propel Leeds back into Play-Off contention against Norwich City this weekend.
