Frank Lampard continues to make an impressive start to his management career with his Derby County side only two points off the league leaders with 16 points.

Lampard has selected veteran striker David Nugent for the majority of his Championship matches with the 33-year-old striker getting on the score sheet twice in seven games.

So should Nugent be Derby's first choice striker?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

He is banging in the goals - so why not?

None of Derby’s other forwards are firing consistently, but the veteran striker is to some extent.

He should keep his place as he is doing no wrong at present.

Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott could learn a lot from the experienced David Nugent, as they look to force their way ahead of him in the queue at Pride Park.

Gary Hutchinson

Absolutely not, no.

Jack Marriott should be.

You don’t pay however many million pounds to sit a player on the bench.

It’s criminal.

George Harbey

After a well taken finish at the weekend, Nugent proved that despite not scoring many goals a season, he is Mr. Reliable for Derby when he is given his chance.

Whether he should be first choice striker is a different question however - Derby have big money signing and proven goal scorer Martyn Waghorn on the bench, as well as 33-goal Jack Marriott who doesn’t seem to be getting a look-in currently
