Derby County fans will be nervously monitoring the situation with regard to their manager Frank Lampard, with Chelsea just one of a number of clubs who could make a move for the 40-year-old in the summer should be become available, it is reported in the Sun.

Despite being on the verge of the play-offs with eight matches remaining, with cost cutting measures at Pride Park, including the cancellation of warm-weather training in Dubai during the latest international window, part of a bigger plan by owner Mel Morris to cut costs and ultimately sell the club.

It would not be impossible to surmise that Lampard and Derby will part company in the summer.

So is Lampard's future at Pride Park really in doubt?

We discuss......

Jacob Potter

"It’s come at the worst possible time.

"Derby are challenging for a play-off place and Lampard is surely going to have had his head turned by this latest Chelsea link.

"It’s concerning for Derby and could cost them a spot in the top six."

Gary Hutchinson

“No surprise.

“He’s done nothing special there.

“Rowett took them to the top six, Lampard probably won’t.

“I don’t think he’s cut out for this level of management.”

Jay Taylor

“I think it would be stupid to leave Derby and head to Chelsea if the job came about now.

“Less than one season in football management, Lampard still has a lot to learn.

“He would be getting set up to fail at Stamford Bridge if the job was given to him now.

“I feel he would be better off biding his time and gaining more experience.”
