Harrison Reed has posted an update on social media ahead of the South Coast derby between Portsmouth and Southampton at Fratton Park tonight.

The 24-year-old came through the academy at Southampton and has made 30 appearances for the Saints, although he is currently on loan at Fulham and has featured five times in the Championship this season.

Southampton will travel to Fratton Park tonight to face their arch-rival Portsmouth for the first time in over seven years in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Even though Reed is currently on loan at Fulham, there is no doubt where his loyalties lie ahead of the South Coast derby.

The on-loan Southampton midfielder has posted an update on social media in response to a message from former Portsmouth striker Conor Chaplin - who wished his former Pompey teammates good luck ahead of the game.

Reed was quick to respond to Chaplin's message and reacted by showing support for his Southampton teammates.

The Verdict

Even though he never played against Portsmouth for Southampton, Reed will know just how much this game means to both sets of supporters.

It should be a good game tonight and there will be a great atmosphere at Fratton Park. It's not very often the two rivals get to face each other, so both teams will be determined to get a result.

Southampton will go into the game as favourites, but the Portsmouth players will feel that they have a point to prove after their slow start to the campaign - it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top.
