The Nottingham Forest squad will be adapting to life under new manager Sabri Lamouchi, as the Frenchman looks to stamp his own mark on the first team squad, in preparation for a top-six challenge next season in the Championship.

A new manager gives every player a chance to impress and stake a claim for a starting berth, with 18-year-old winger Arvin Appiah bound to be keen to want to impress and improve on the seven appearances he made last season.

But should Lamouchi look to utilise Appiah as much as possible next season?

We discuss........

Tommy Joyce

"Arvin Appiah is one player that the Forest fans will be hoping to see as regularly as possible this season.

"However, in reality, it is hard to see him getting game time fairly often due to the pressure of the job and the experience of the rest of the squad.

"It's clear they have big plans for him, though, as winner of the youth player of the season last year.

"The 18-year-old did manage to come on in six games towards the end of the season, and O'Neill clearly looked a big fan, so depending on whether Lamouchi rates him, I think we could see him on the bench a lot this season.

"His pace and skill is enough to scare defenders, so he is a good weapon to have for the team."

Ned Holmes

"I think the new Forest boss should look to involve Appiah more than he was last season when he made just seven appearances.

"The 18-year-old appears a talented player, given his opportunities at a young age with England youth setups and the Forest squad, but he is unproven so Lamouchi should manage his game time.

"There are a number of players ahead in the pecking order of Appiah on the right-hand side, such as Joe Lolley, Matty Cash, and new arrival Sammy Ameobi, but he should be given a chance by the new boss.

"Appiah’s first-team opportunities next season could hinge on the business that Forest do in the transfer market–Lolley is the first choice right winger and will likely limit his play-time, should the 26-year-old stay at the club."

Kealan Hughes

"Appiah deserves to be in and around the matchday squad more regularly next season. He is clearly a very talented player and will only improve with game time.

"Fortunately for him, he is more likely to get game time under Lamouchi, as Martin O'Neill has never seemed to be a manager who puts a considerable amount of faith in youth players.

"Forest however will target the play-offs and therefore it is a risk to introduce an 18-year-old into the squad on a regular basis.

"Appiah will need to hit the ground running and show what he is capable of in cup and sub appearances. If he does impress then there is no reason why he shouldn't become a regular feature of Lamouchi's plans."
