Oldham Athletic fans will be hoping that their new manager Paul Scholes can bring some of his playing success to management, after the club confirmed his appointment.

Not only does Scholes bring a wealth of top-level playing experience to Boundary Park, fans will probably be hoping he can call on his contacts at United to bring some young starlets on loan to the Latics as well.

So can you see the Scholes effect bring some United loanees to Oldham?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Possibly, but I suspect they could have anyway given their proximity.

“It’s not about who they get, their squad, in the main, isn’t bad.

“The problem is at boardroom level and Scholes has to attack that issue before there’s any success on the field.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s certainly a possibility.

"Scholes should definitely be looking at bringing in the best young talent from his former club, and it’s exactly what Oldham need.

"If he can do that, then they’ll fire themselves up the table – no doubt about it."

George Harbey

"It’s definitely a likely option.

"Scholes is clearly a legend at Old Trafford, and to have their young players available to them could be a real advantage.

"They already have a youngster called Zak Dearnley on loan from United, who looks to be a really promising player."

Jay Taylor

“Of course, it goes without saying.

“Scholes said he would utilise his links with Manchester United to benefit the Latics.

“And I fully expect that to happen next season as they push for a place back in League One.”
