Leeds United fans could be forgiven for being a little excited, after star midfielder Kalvin Phillips was the player adopted by the club to be the face of the club's release of fixtures for the forthcoming 2019/20 season.

Phillips, 23, has just enjoyed a superb season for Marcelo Bielsa's side, but with the Whites narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier League, speculation is rife that the player could be on the move, with newly promoted Aston Villa reported to be very keen.

So what should Leeds fans read into the fact that the club chose Phillips to promoted their fixtures for the coming campaign?

We discuss.........

Tommy Joyce

"No it doesn't mean he's staying - people shouldn't read too much into these kind of things.

"However, reports suggest that Phillips is happy at Leeds and it wouldn't be surprising at all if he did stay.

"It will take a big offer for Leeds to want to depart with him. It's imperative that Leeds keep him, both as he's an instrumental part of Bielsa's system and because it sends another bad message to Leeds fans as they sell another academy graduate.

"If Leeds want to keep hold, then it will be up to Phillips. It seems he's happy right now, but this can all change when a big offer comes in."

Ben Lang

"It's certainly a positive sign, but I don't think too much should be read into it at this stage.

"I do think Phillips will have one more stab at promotion with Leeds, especially after Bielsa's new contract being signed now.

"However, I think the move by Leeds to have Phillips fronting the fixture release is simply a ploy to ease speculation linking him with a move away.

"The fact he was used by the club in this manner suggest a move away is not imminent, but I think there is every chance that someone like Villa could still come in for him later in the window. He may find it hard to turn down a Premier League move."
