Leeds United have been beset with injuries and suspensions to key personnel for the majority of the season, but that has not stopped manager Marcelo Bielsa getting the Whites into the promotion mix, with a return to the Premier League a real possibility for the Yorkshire giants.

For defender Luke Ayling, it has not been a straight forward campaign, having had his own injury problems, but has still managed 26 appearances so far this season.

His form though has been inconsistent and with players returning from injury, his place in the starting XI could be in jeopardy.

So how can Ayling's season so far, be best summed up?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"He’s surprised me – for the wrong reasons.

"I thought Ayling would have been one of Leeds’ star players this season, but he’s really struggled.

"I’m surprised he’s been able to keep his place in the starting XI in recent weeks, and he could benefit from a spell out of the side."

Alfie Burns

“It’s been a struggle.

“He started exceptionally, but a second knee injury in the space of 12 months has set him back massively.

“He’s not at his best now and everything looks a real effort to him.

“I’m a massive Ayling fan and Leeds need him back to his best down the right.”

Gary Hutchinson

“I think he’s had a decent season.

“He’s playing full back for a side challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

“If they go up, he’ll retain his place I feel.

“That’s a good outcome.”

Jay Taylor

“Average at best.

“With form and injury issues, he has failed to get a rhythm going.

“And that has been to the detriment of both Leeds and the player who was sensational last season.”
