Sunderland have been dealt more bad news with goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter ruled out for up to three months with a dislocated finger.

Chronicle Live has reported this frustrating update for the Black Cats who are in the midst of a desperate battle to stay in the Championship.

Just how bad is this news for Chris Coleman's side?

We discuss...

Sam Preston

They'll be glad that they didn't manage to sell Jason Steele now!

They've got two experienced keepers there now in Lee Camp and Steele so they should be alright.

However, it's another blow that they don't need; more chopping and changing and more instability behind a defence that could do with a calming influence.

Alfie Burns

It’s a blow in terms of squad depth, but I can’t see it affecting the starting XI too much.

Lee Camp is likely to be Coleman’s number one from here, with Ruiter and Jason Steele playing a supporting role.

Coleman will be frustrated that he has lost Ruiter, but will also be thankful it wasn’t one of his key first-teamers.

Adam Simeoni

This could be a blow for Sunderland.

Ruiter has made himself the number one in recent weeks, but at least they have signed Lee Camp from Cardiff.

If he plays well in Ruiter’s absence, then he may lock down the number one spot until the end of the season.

George Dagless

It's a blow but it could be worse.

Ruiter hasn't exactly convinced and now Lee Camp gets his chance to help shore things up.

I'd imagine he'll do that, too, but if he doesn't the Black Cats are bang in trouble.
