Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert is to potentially be handed up-to £10m for the January window, as owner Marcus Evans looks to keep the Tractor Boys in the Championship, according to Alan Nixon in the Sun on Sunday (October 28, Page 59).

Evans finally decided it was time up for former manager Paul Hurst after the 2-0 defeat to Leeds last week, a result that left them at the bottom of the Championship with only one win to their name all season.

New boss Lambert was in the stands to watch his new side lose 3-0 to Millwall at the weekend and will know he will have to invest the money wisely come January, if he is to improve on a return of only nine points from a possible 45.

This certainly came as a surprise to me.

It’s been no secret that Ipswich haven’t financially backed their managers in the past, but with Alan Nixon’s latest update, Ipswich fans will be hoping they can kick-start their season this weekend with a win.

If Lambert is given the funds, then I could see them surviving this season.

Gary Hutchinson

If I was Paul Hurst I’d be incredibly annoyed.

Where was his £10m?

He was asked to do a job on a budget and then fired, before his successor gets a load of cash?

It’s an insult.

Ipswich are just paying out more money to try and sort out the problem from their spending earlier in the summer.

Giving the manager that type of money isn’t sensible or sustainable - work with the players he has as they might actually be decent!

Time will tell, but the way Ipswich are going they will need more than money in January to have any chance of survival.

It's a huge call, but a much-needed one.

Ipswich look absolutely dismal and Lambert will need some huge backing if he is to get Ipswich out of this mess.

They need solid options all over the pitch as they aren't scoring goals and are conceding far too many.
