Millwall manager Neil Harris will be encouraged with the news that winger Shane Ferguson has signed a new deal at the Den, it has been confirmed on the club website.

Ferguson, 27, has scored 12 goals in 154 games since joining the club in 2015 from Newcastle United and is a Northern Ireland international, who has been capped 37 times by his country.

So is it a smart move by Millwall to get Ferguson to sign a new deal?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"Definitely.

"Ferguson has been a reliable performer for the Lions since first arriving at the club in 2015 and characters like that are needed at the Den.

"It has been a disappointing season for Harris and his side but there is no need to panic just yet."

Gary Hutchinson

“I think so.

“He’s been an important player for them and surely they need to keep their quality footballers close.

“They’re in a bit of a battle and he is a battler, so it stands to reason they’re seeing the best of him.”

Alfie Burns

“It’s an important move.

“Neil Harris trusts members of his squad to get the job done and Ferguson is included in that.

“Tying him down will have been one of the club’s aims heading into 2019.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s fully deserved.

"Ferguson hasn’t made as many starts as he should have, but he’s always put in a good shift when needed.

"It would have been a no-brainer for Millwall to offer him a new deal."
