Brentford goalkeeper Mark Smith has revealed that it is an honour to be able to play for the club, after he signed his first professional contract with the Bees.
The 19-year-old signed for his boyhood club last summer following his release by Queens Park Rangers, and has clearly done enough to impress the coaching staff at Griffin Park and earn a one-year contract extension.
Speaking to the club’s official website following the announcement of the deal, Smith revealed that he is a lifelong Brentford fan and that it is a privilege to play for the London club.
“I’m obviously delighted,” he said. “Being my boyhood team it’s great to get another opportunity to and a chance to progress.
“Both my grandads supported Brentford, and my dad’s watched them ever since he was a little boy. I’ve been coming here since I was about five.
“It’s an honour to play for the team you support.
“I hope that now I can improve and push on and see where we go.”
