According to Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (15/07, 14:45), Blackburn Rovers are among a trio of sides interested in West Brom goalkeeper Jonathan Bond this summer.

Blackburn, Swansea City and Bristol City have been linked with the signing of the 27-year-old, who could be available to sign on a free transfer with his contract running out at the end of the season.

Bond has made only seven appearances for West Brom since arriving from Reading last season, having been used as back-up for first-choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Blackburn will be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Christian Walton set to return to Brighton and Hove Albion after an impressive loan spell at Ewood Park this term.

Here, the FLW team discuss whether Bond would be a good signing for Rovers...

Sam Rourke

On a free transfer, this would be a useful addition.

With Christian Walton returning to Brighton this summer, Rovers will be in need of a new goalkeeper and in this current financial climate, getting someone like Bond in on a free transfer who has Championship experience would be wise.

Of course, Bond has hardly featured at all for the Baggies since arriving at the Hawthorns, playing second fiddle to Sam Johnstone, but he still has ability.

If he was afforded regular game-time at Ewood Park we could see him flourish and showcase the sort of pedigree that got him involved with the England under-21 setup.

At the age of 27, Bond is reaching his 'peak' years and I don't see too many drawbacks with a deal like this for Blackburn.

It would fill a gap, at a viable price.

George Dagless

He could be.

He's a good stopper and if Rovers cannot keep Christian Walton then they would be wise to look for a new goalkeeper for next season.

Bond doesn't look like he's going to be West Brom's number 1 anytime soon but that does not automatically mean he is a bad keeper, he just needs a move to be playing again.

At 27 he is coming towards his peak years as a goalkeeper and he'll surely want to be playing through them, rather than sitting on a bench, even if it is in the Premier League.

It's absolutely worth a look.

Can you name the stadiums of these 40 EFL clubs?

Alfie Burns

Excellent target.

Mowbray needs to take a look at his goalkeeping department this summer, with Christian Walton heading back to Brighton and David Raya serving brilliantly with Brentford.

It’s a key area of recruitment Rovers are going to have to focus on this summer and Bond could be a good option for them to bring in.

He’s served as West Brom’s No.2 now for a couple of years, but at 27, he’s going to want to be getting minutes in the first-team, which Blackburn could start to offer him.

In my opinion, he’s not quite at Walton’s standard, but he’s good enough for Blackburn. He just needs time on the field to prove that.
