Reading made it no wins in five when they slumped to a 4-1 defeat to Fulham on Tuesday night, a result that leaves Jose Gomes' side down in 21st spot in the Championship, ahead of a trip to Bristol City this weekend.

Gomes will know he must turn things around quickly at the Madejski Stadium to avoid the Royals being cut adrift from the sides above them, as he looks to increase the three point gap his side currently have above the drop zone.

But with this very poor run of form in mind, is it time Reading look to sack Gomes?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"It's a tough call to make.

"It should be remembered that not that long ago, some were suggesting that Reading could be an outside bet for the play-offs, following their 3-0 demolition of Cardiff and draw away at West Brom.

"Things however move quickly in football, and results like that look a long way away indeed, which has to be a concern for the Royals hierarchy as the club slide down the table.

"With Stoke seemingly facing a change in manager, and Huddersfield showing some signs of promise under their new one, it does look as though the few who are below Reading could soon be closing in on them, which may force the club into a change of their own, in order to avoid slipping below the dreaded dotted line."

Chris Gallagher

"I think it's a bit soon for that.

"I also have some sympathy with him for last night as you can't legislate for a player picking up two bookings after 20 minutes. Then, in that position, when you're also a goal down, Fulham are the worst team in the league to be up against.

"The boss has clearly made mistakes this season but it was never going to be straightforward and a lot has changed at the club in the past few months.

"Of course, this run of form is alarming but I would give him at least another six games up until the November international break to get things right, during which time they have a few winnable home games in particular."

Dean Cooke

"Not yet. It's too early to know whether this is just a poor run of form or whether he's not the right man for the job.

"His record as manager is starting to look worse and worse and unless he changes it soon, then he could well be picking up his p45 in the near future.

"It was more the manner of the defeat for Gomes' side that will have disappointed supporters, a lack of effort and tactical cohesion led to boos from fans after the game and at half-time.

"Coming up, the fixtures don't get any easier for Reading, and they take on an impressive Bristol City before the next international break."
