There was a surprise name on the Leeds United under-23 team-sheet to face Crewe on Monday afternoon, with midfielder Samu Saiz featuring.

The Spaniard was an unused substitute for the Whites in their 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic at the weekend and was also named on the bench for their clash with Nottingham Forest last week.

Before the last two weeks, Saiz had featured in every game for Marcelo Bielsa's men this season, but on Monday afternoon he found himself playing for the under-23 side, who fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Crewe.

It was another tough afternoon for Saiz, who according to Yorkshire Evening Post writer Joe Urquhart, was on the end of some rather hefty challenges.

Although Saiz needs game-time to keep him up to full match fitness, a vast majority of Leeds fans have questioned Bielsa's decision to play the Spanish playmaker in the game.
