Arsenal goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez is set to join relegation threatened, Reading on a loan deal until the end of the season according to the Daily Mail.
Martinez is yet to make a league appearance for the Gunners this season, and a loan move is the best move for all parties involved.
He has previously been out on loan at Wolves, Rotherham United and Getafe in recent years, but failed to nail down a place in the starting XI.
It will come as no surprise to see Reading closing in on a deal for the goalkeeper, as they are in need of a shot-stopper that will suit their possession-based style of football that Jose Gomes plays.
Arsenal are hoping that Martinez can get valuable first-team experiences with the Royals for the remainder of this years campaign.
The Gunners are hoping that he can become second choice goalkeeper when he returns to the Emirates, with Petr Cech retiring at the end of the season.
But is Martinez a good signing by Reading?
“I’ve not seen Reading in action much, but the 26-year-old is certainly a top notch keeper.
“I wouldn’t think there’s a club in the Championship with whom he wouldn’t be pushing for a start.
“It’s a big boost for the Royals as they look to avoid relegation.
“They might just do it you know.”
“He hasn’t played an awful lot of games in recent times, but he could be a good signing.
“He has Premier League experience that could help Reading in the final run-in, and will be hungry to prove a point to Unai Emery that he can be a very good goalkeeper.
“It’s a smart move by Gomes.”
“It’s another smart bit of business by Jose Gomes.
“Reading need a goalkeeper that has better distribution, and Martinez certainly has that in his list of attributes.
“On a loan deal, this is the best move for both parties, as Martinez needs game time, and the Royals are in desperate need of a better-quality goalkeeper.”
