Dwight Gayle has received a two-match ban for his dive in midweek as Nottingham Forest were held 2-2 by West Brom. 

Martin O'Neill's side were on course for a victory, but Gayle threw himself to the ground as the game ran away from the home side, resulting in a spot kick which Jay Rodriguez converted. Lee Mason admitted making a mistake and subsequently, Gayle was banned.

The punishment has not been met with approval across much of the football world. Some Forest fans feel that two games is not enough and that in missing a match against Aston Villa, they're being punished twice.

Leeds fans have also been having their say on the punishment. With the impending 'Spygate' saga still hanging over the club, some have questioned which is the worst offence; 'going for a walk' as one Leeds fan puts it, or deceiving the referee intentionally to win points.

Whatever the outcome from the EFL regarding the spying incident, Gayle's punishment is bound to be a point of reference in the future.
