Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has completed his second bit of business of the transfer window, with the loan signing of Wolves defender Kortney Hause for the remainder of the season, as reported on the Aston Villa website.

Hause arrives at Villa Park with a foot injury, that led to the initial permanent deal being re-negotiated to a loan deal with an option to become permanent in the summer, as reported by Football Insider.

Defence has been an area that Smith has identified as needing attention and was behind the recall of Tommy Elphick from his loan spell at Hull City, as he looked to increase competition at the back.

So, Is signing Kortney Hause despite him having a minor foot injury a wise move by Villa?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

“Dean Smith thinks so.

"And I feel this is the right thing to do – the player interests the powers that be at Villa and they think he can make a substantial contribution – or they wouldn’t have tried to sign him.

"The fact he was signed with an injury suggests it isn’t a long-term one and he will be back soon and just shows the desire there was to bring Hause into the club in the first place.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s a risky bit of business.

"There’s no doubting that Hause is certainly an excellent option to rely on for Aston Villa for the remainder of the season, but his injury concerns will be worrying.

"Dean Smith’s side need to keep an eye on him, as it’ll be a complete waste of time signing him if he can’t stay fit."

Sam Rourke

"There is no denying it's a risk.

"Though, they wouldn't have signed him if they didn't feel he was fit enough to be involved in the Villa first-team.

"Hause needed to find a club where he will attain regular game-time, and I get the feeling he's going to get that under Dean Smith at the Villans."
