A blistering first-half display proved the catalyst for Derby County to record their biggest league victory since January following a comfortable win over Birmingham on Tuesday.

Wayne Rooney’s team raced into a three-goal advantage inside the opening 26 minutes at St Andrew’s thanks to goals from Krystian Bielik, Graeme Shinnie and Colin Kazim-Richards before teenager Jason Knight added gloss by scoring the Rams’ fourth in the 76th-minute.

It was the perfect response from Derby after the disappointment of their defeat to Preston North End on Boxing Day, and was enough to see the Pride Park outfit climb out of the bottom-three for the first time since the end of October.
