Reports from Sky Sports News HQ (TV) claim that Simon Grayson is interested in the vacant managerial role at Sky Bet Championship side Reading.

The Royals, despite losing just one of their last five games, parted company with Paul Clement on Thursday morning, just two days before their home clash against Sheffield United.

With the Berkshire club languishing in 21st position, however, it came as no surprise to see the club lose patience with Clement ahead of what is now an incredibly important January transfer window.

Grayson has been out of work since the end of last season when he departed League One side Bradford City after winning just three out of 14 games at the helm of the Bantams.

The 48-year-old is mostly known for taking Preston North End up from League One and transforming them into a solid mid-table Championship team.
