Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has had a mixed time since taking over at the club, but one of his shrewdest moves since his appointment has been the deadline day signing of defender Tyrone Mings, who moved from Bournemouth until the end of the season.

Mings has been in imperious form since moving to Villa Park, with a single goal in his seven appearances at the heart of the Villa back four.

So should Villa be doing everything they can to secure Mings on a permanent deal in the summer?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"It’s a no brainer.

"Mings has been excellent for Villa since signing on loan from Bournemouth and that’s evident because they have improved defensively since he came into the side.

"They need to be doing everything they can to sign him in the summer."

Louie Chandler

"100%

"Mings has been absolutely excellent since arriving in January becoming arguably the club's most important player.

"He seems to be loving his time at Villa Park as well so getting a deal done would be best for everyone."

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes.

“He’s been a colossus for them, a real big player in recent weeks.

“He’s got a cool head, despite the stamping incident, and he’s quick too.

“How he doesn’t get a game at Bournemouth I’ll never know.”

Jay Taylor

“Without a doubt, he has been heroic this term.

“With Grealish doing his thing in attack, Mings has done the defensive equivalent of that and is a key cog in the Aston Villa machine.

“The new owners should flex their financial clout and get Mings in at all costs this summer.”
