Aston Villa have successfully mounted a late charge for the play-offs, currently sitting in fifth place in the Championship table following the 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

A player who has made a major contribution to the success of Dean Smith's side is loan defender Tyrone Mings who has been a revelation since his deadline day move from Bournemouth.

So with Mings playing such a big part in Villa's success over the second half of the season, should Smith be making it a priority to sign him to a permanent deal in the summer?

We discuss........

Jay Taylor

“It’s a must.

“If Villa fail to land Mings in the summer they will feel the effects once he leaves the club.

“Their promotion hopes could rest on it if they fail to go up this term.”

Louie Chandler

"Yes, but they need to be careful.

"Mings has obviously been outstanding since arriving at Villa Park, but they are a club in a precarious position regarding FFP.

"If they are not promoted I would steer clear and opt for a shrewder option."

Alfie Burns

“It’s got to be, he’s vital for them.

“Jack Grealish is getting so much praise, but this guy has made the side solid at the back again.

“Without him in defence, Villa were so inconsistent.”
