Derby County manager Frank Lampard believes his players need to take responsibility for their performances, as they look to get back to winning ways, following a trio of defeats as described in an interview for the club website.

The Rams face Wigan Athletic at Pride Park this weekend knowing that only a win will do if they are to have any chance of getting back into the play-off places, having fallen away in recent weeks.

So is Lampard right in his opinions of his players?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"They need to take the majority of the blame.

"This Derby squad is one of the best in the Championship this season and they simply aren’t living up the expectations set for them.

"They need to turn round this poor run of form, otherwise there’s no chance they’ll reach the play-offs this season."

Gary Hutchinson

“Partly.

“A manager should never put that on his players publicly though.

“It’s weak in my view.

“Good managers make the big statements where the press can’t see.”

Jay Taylor

“It’s a mix of both – the player and the manager.

“He sets the tactics out, and the style of play, but the players have to go out and execute that.

“If the tactics are not replayed well enough, then the players might not understand fully.

“Of course, it’s the players who play, but at the end of the day the responsibility ends with the boss.”
