West Bromwich Albion caretaker manager Jimmy Shan could see out the season in charge of the Championship club.

BBC Sport is reporting that the Baggies’ hierarchy are considering letting the 40-year-old remain at the helm for the final eight matches.

Shan has won both games in charge since taking over form Darren Moore who was sacked on March 9.

Albion remain fourth in the Championship table having been unable to close the gap on the three teams above them.

There has been much discussion as to who could be the club’s permanent manager, and when they would be appointed.

But as of yet, no decision has been made.

The Baggies have two weeks before their next league fixture to make a decision in order to minimise disruption heading into what could well be a play-off campaign once the regular season is completed.

With the news of Shan’s potentially elongated stay in charge, we asked our team of FLW writers their thoughts on the possible situation at the Hawthorns.

Here’s what they had to say…

Jay Taylor

“I think this is a move that makes the most sense to all involved.

“Bringing in a new manager for the final eight games just means more upheaval heading into the play-offs.

“You want cohesion and continuity moving into the post-season and keeping Shan in charge gives them that until they know what division they will be in for next year.”

Alfie Burns

“It’s a massive risk.

“If this is the route they’re planning to take, why not keep Moore in-charge?

“It makes no sense when you step back and look at it.”

Jacob Potter

“A stupid move.

“West Brom should have had a replacement lined up before they sacked Darren Moore and Shan isn't good enough to take charge for the play-offs.

“This decision will cost them promotion."
